God’s hands at work in Houston

Sep 5, 2017

The waters are starting to recede in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, but the recovery work is just beginning. All across the greater Houston area, millions of people are returning to find possessions gone, homes damaged, and life essentials in short supply.

And yet there are encouraging signs as well. We are getting reports of churches and organizations across the Southern U.S. pouring volunteers and resources into the crisis zone. Food, water, and medical supplies are being delivered by thousands of compassionate hands, including many of of own Fellowship family.

Our friends Barry & Sue Bressler of Kids Against Hunger in Central Florida have sent over 15,000 packaged meals directly to the affected areas. Together with the larger network of KAH centers, they have distributed over a quarter of a million meal units into the disaster area!

We have also heard from Scott & Sheila Stephens ministering at Citymark Church in League City, TX, located right in the middle of the some of the most severe flooding. The team at Citymark has opened their facility as an operations center for emergency workers, providing hot meals to those serving on the front lines of the recovery.

There are also reports of generosity and service coming all across our South Central region! Scott & Marsha Hoxworth and their team at FaithPoint Church in Killeen, TX have rallied volunteers to serve with Christ In Action, a service organization dedicated to bringing hope to America’s families. Together, we are seeing our faith put to action during this difficult time. Living like Jesus, serving those in need.

If you (or an organization you are working with) have reports of seeing God’s faithfulness in the Hurricane Harvey aftermath, I would love to hear from you. Reply to this email and share how you are putting your faith into action by serving our brothers and sisters in the affected areas. Let’s rejoice together as we see lives changed and God’s love lived out!

In Christ,
Steve Holder

PS. Once again, if you live outside the region where you can practically serve those in the flood zone, please consider financially supporting our friends at Christ in Action. They have been part of The Fellowship Network family for the last several years and have totally given themselves to Jesus-centered disaster relief. Your donations will be well-stewarded and directed immediately to the hardest-hit areas. Please give today!
