Giving Thanks in Challenging Times

We are approaching a very unique Thanksgiving holiday. It has been an unusual year with many challenges and unexpected obstacles in ministry. From lockdowns, bans on gatherings, not to mention financial hardships and financial uncertainty, 2020 especially has been a year of leaning on the goodness of God. Many of us have grown stronger in our faith through the process! We are thankful for God’s faithfulness.

Yet, for others, it can be a struggle to find reasons to be thankful. Fortunately, God gives us a roadmap to thankfulness, even in challenging circumstances.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” -Philippians 4:6–7

Notice that Paul places the word “thankfulness” between two phrases about calling out to God. We express our attitude of gratefulness BEFORE the answered prayer arrives. We are to stay in a posture of thanks regardless of circumstances, knowing that we serve an eternal and loving Father.

Let us express our request to God through a lens of gratefulness for who He is. Even during the down days of pain and discouragement, we can be thankful for God’s faithfulness, His presence, and His peace.

From my family to yours, we are praying that all of you have a wonderful week of Thanksgiving. There is always something to be thankful for and I am thankful for you! Be intentionally filling your home with positivity, love, and kindness and please have a blessed Thanksgiving Day!!!

With grace and gratitude,
