Our world needs the Gospel. War, disease, floods, and famine: we live in a time of desperation for so many people. And yet scripture is clear that our HOPE is in Jesus.
But how will people receive hope if nobody tells them?
The Apostle Paul said in Romans 1:14-16, “I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to preach the Gospel also to you who are in Rome. For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”
I believe that ALL of us have the same obligation as Paul. We should all be ready and willing to share our testimony and not be ashamed of the power of God in our lives. That power is the dunamis power of God, the same power mentioned in the book of Acts. It’s the overwhelming saving power of God that changes hearts and minds and sees nations saved.
The power of human effort only lasts as long as the person expressing it. “Exousia” refers to the authority or power of the person wielding it. But the dunamis power is authority from a greater source. Dunamis is the only power capable of reproducing itself beyond human effort. It’s the power of God to affect change through the influence of the Gospel.
Jesus said to go into ALL the world and preach to the nations. The last time I checked, the nations still need God. Our own nation still needs God. The Gospel is for today!
We don’t need to empower the Gospel: it’s already empowered. It already has the dunamis power of God built-in. Our job is simply to release it.
As Spirit-empowered ministers, we need to get the Gospel out of our heads and into our hearts. And once the power of the Gospel takes root in our hearts, it needs to come out of our mouths. We need to SPEAK the Gospel everywhere God has given us influence: our churches, our communities, the marketplace, in halls of government, everywhere that God has sent us to minister. Words are necessary!
This week, be challenged to SPEAK the dunamis power of God to your sphere of influence. Share your testimony of how God has impacted your life. And then share with our Fellowship family the testimony of how God used you to spread the Gospel.
